Hirelings are held by a unit and can only be used by the unit which is holding them that turn. They effectively serve as extra Actives. They require provs and have on going costs of 10 Silver per month. If they are not paid a number will leave. (provs will not be required until this is coded).
They do not need overseeing and do not grow. However, they require water if ending a turn at sea etc. Hirelings carry their own goods and do not participate in carrying goods for the purposes of Weight calculations. They take up cargo space on ships as per people. Similarly, they count as people if you are forming a fully mounted unit. Hirelings will not participate in combat if they are part of your Clan. They may not be transferred between Clans. If captured they are taken as Slaves. Hirelings may not be transferred between Clans.
