When first starting out, the list of skills that need to be developed and resources that need to be found seems almost endless. The optimization of your clan can seem like a task you might end up handing down to your grandchildren, or your much younger 7th spouse, depending on family relationships and the latest melodramatic instalment of your will when this becomes relevant.
Trading can help overcome skill and material shortfalls to speed up your progress.
Local Trade is trade with another clan nearby, probably at a similar stage of development to your own clan.
One of you may have settled a coal mine, the other an iron ore mine. You trade coal for iron ore with each other using a trade element.
Or you might develop weapon making and your ally armour making, allowing each of you to have both weapons and armour while still pressing on to higher levels of your specializations.
The twice-yearly fair is another good method of obtaining things you might need much quicker than you might otherwise obtain them. Attractive early purchases at the fair can include:
Art, Music, Cooking and Dancing don’t bring in much, but they only really require labour. They are boosted by your
Econ skill, if you happen to have some skill in one of these that’s a little more, but this would not be a reason for
skilling up on its own (the morale benefit could be, though.)
Triball is by far the best silver generating activity for a number of reasons.
Not every city is a Trade City. Trade Cities have very limited price lists but you can hang around for multiple turns
buying and selling from them. You may be able to obtain a commodity from them amongst a few other things, your
silver will always be good there and you can probably sell spare provs there even if you don’t have the other items or
a willingness to part with them for the prices listed.
This is a once/year auction run by one of the clans which takes a cut of winning bids.
It is unlikely that you will be able to afford to buy much if anything from the auction in your early years. Your best
options will come from selling things for things you desire.
Things you can consider offering for sale:-
The Bursa Lottery is similar to the Wefik Auction other than being a Lottery. This means the items you bid are
definitely gone but you may not receive anything in return. On the other hand, you could get lucky. You are looking at
similar types of goods to the auction in terms of what is likely to attract ticket sales.
TNA is a sub-game within TN, run by one of the more disreputable players in the hope that this will help minimize him getting up to even less desirable activities like serenading the Clan News Editor.
While you cannot trade items from your clan’s inventory for items of value in TNA, it is possible with your TNA proceeds to purchase limited quantities of most commodities as well as generate silver, gold and limited amounts of exotic items such as oak and rosewood (a very little) which were obtained in 817, that can be transferred back to your clan, periodically.
